Heavy-duty pneumatic rubber fenders fitted with Chain-and-Tyre Nets (CTN) are elite-tier marine mooring systems engineered for high-energy ship-to-ship (STS) transfers and open-sea berthing. Built to ISO 17357-1:2014 parameters, these fenders feature an outer protective grid of high-tensile galvanized chains and rugged aircraft tyres that shield the internal rubber body from severe abrasion, shearing, and puncture. Operating at 50 kPa or 80 kPa initial pressures, they deliver maximum energy absorption with low hull reaction forces under the most volatile ocean swells.

Our Pneumatic Rubber Fender

1. Material test for rubber
The material test of the outer rubber and the inner rubber shall be conducted in accordance with the physical properties of inner and outer rubber required by ISO 17357:2002
2.Dimensional inspection
The dimension of all the fenders shall be inspected at the initial internal pressure and the results shall be within the following tolerances:
- length: +10%, -5%;
-diameter: +10%,-5%
3.Air-leakage test
The air-leakage test shall be conducted on all the fenders at initial pressure for more than 30 min, and the test results shall
confirm that there is no air leakage.
4.Hydrostatic-pressure test
The hydrostatic-pressure test shall be performed for 10 min at the hydrostatic-pressure shown in "test pressure at 0% deflection". Maximum temporary elongation: 10%

A2: Standard production lead time is typically 15 to 25 days, depending on the dimensions and certification requirements (such as BV or CCS third-party witness testing).

Q2: What should I do if a pneumatic fender suffers a deep structural cut or puncture?

A2: Minor outer rubber gouges can be repaired using our customized marine rubber repair kits (cold vulcanization). However, if the inner synthetic-tyre-cord layers are severed, the fender must be decommissioned immediately for safety.

Q3: Why do pneumatic fenders require high-tensile swivels at both ends of the chain net?

A3: Swivels prevent the chain network from twisting, knotting, or snapping when the fender rotates against the ship's hull during heavy dynamic berthing movements.

Q4: Can the chain-and-tyre net be replaced if it wears out before the rubber body?

A4: Yes. The aircraft tyre chain net is an independent modular assembly. We supply replacement Heavy-Duty CTN Nets that can be easily fitted onto your existing smooth sling-type fender bodies.

Q5: What is the risk of over-inflating a marine pneumatic rubber fender?

A5: Over-inflation beyond 50 kPa or 80 kPa increases initial stiffness, which leads to dangerously high reaction forces that can crush ship hulls, reduce energy absorption, and cause catastrophic fender bursting.

Q6: How do you prevent the hot-dip galvanized chain net from scratching the ship's coating?

A6: We install heavy-wall protective rubber or PVC sleeves over the sections of the chain network closest to the hull, ensuring maximum steel-to-hull isolation and protecting ship paint.

Q7: What are the correct lifting and towing points on a floating pneumatic fender?

A7: Fenders must only be lifted or towed using the designated pulling rings (tow rings) and shackles attached to the steel end-flanges. Never lift a fender by its chain network or rubber body.
