Marine Supper Arch Fender

The Super Arch Rubber Fender offers a significant advantage in design compression deformation, which is 20% higher than V-type fenders and 8% higher than M-type fenders without increasing reaction force. This feature enhances the energy absorption capacity of the product substantially.

Among the compression fender series, the arch rubber fender (DA-B) provides relatively high energy absorption per unit weight, making it efficient in terms of rubber consumption. Its robust anchor structure makes it highly suitable for ships, wharfs, and docks, offering a wide range of applications. However, one disadvantage is that the surface pressure exerted on the ship's side panels can be excessively powerful, making it unsuitable for vessels with weaker side panel strength, such as oil tankers.

To address this issue, the DA-BB fender features a frontal frame and PE frontal pad on its working face, reducing surface pressure and lowering the friction coefficient with the boat deck, thereby significantly decreasing berthing shear force. For small boats or those with protrusions that may cause unevenness on the side panels, the DA-BPE model is
specifically designed to mitigate potential deformation and damage to the frontal frame during berthing by further reducing thefriction coefficient and easing berthing shear force.

Florescence manufactures two types Arch Fenders. Please contact with us for our latest Fender Systems Brochure for more information.

Primary Applications

Arch rubber fenders offer excellent multi-directional stability, rendering them highly effective across various maritime berthing structures:

1.General Cargo & Bulk Terminals: Protects quay walls from continuous dynamic impacts by diverse commercial bulk vessels and container ships.

2.Ro-Ro and Passenger Ferry Berths: Handles high-frequency, rapid docking operations where exceptional shear resistance against ferry movement is critical.

3.Oil & Gas Marine Terminals: Provides highly reliable, stable fendering systems for sensitive tanker mooring setups.

4.Tugboat and Workboat Piles: Installed vertically or horizontally on narrow jetties, dolphins, and coastal structures to absorb localized impacts.

FAQ

Q1: What is the main difference between Type A and Type B Arch Fenders?

A1: Type A features a fully exposed rubber surface for high-friction gripping. Type B is fitted with a low-friction UHMW-PE frontal pad to minimize friction and prevent shear wear against the ship hull.

Q2: What is the standard design deflection rate for a V type rubber fender?

A2: The industry-standard rated deflection is 50%. Compressing the fender beyond 55% may cause permanent rubber fatigue or bolt anchorage deformation.

Q3: Why do arch fenders feature a built-in steel plate at the base?

A3: A heavy steel plate is vulcanized inside the rubber foot to distribute bolt tension evenly and prevent the anchor bolts from tearing out of the rubber during severe impacts.

Q4: Are your marine arch fenders compliant with PIANC guidelines?

A4: Yes. Our entire production protocol follows PIANC 2002 guidelines, guaranteeing precise velocity-factor, temperature-factor, and performance tolerance testing.

Q5: Can arch fenders be installed vertically on a quay wall?

A5: Yes. They can be mounted vertically to handle tidal ranges or horizontally to accommodate long-hulled cargo ships, offering highly versatile port configurations.

Q6: What anchor bolt materials do you provide for port installation?

A6: We provide high-strength Hot-Dip Galvanized (HDG) steel (Grade 8.8) or premium Stainless Steel (SS304/SS316) bolts to ensure total corrosion resistance in saltwater.

Q7: How do arch fenders compare to cell fenders in terms of installation?

A7: Arch fenders are significantly easier and more economical to install because they do not require a massive steel frontal panel or complex chain rigging to stay stable.

Q8: What is the typical lifespan of a molded dock arch fender?

A8: Manufactured with high-grade natural rubber compounds, our arch fenders deliver a maintenance-free service life of 10 to 15 years in tough marine zones.

Q9: Are these rubber fenders resistant to ozone and UV degradation?

A9: Yes. Our raw material formulation contains specialized anti-aging and anti-ozone chemical stabilizers to prevent cracking under harsh, direct tropical sunlight.

Q10: Can you customize the length of an arch fender for a specific dock pocket?

A10: Yes. While standard lengths range from 1m to 3.5m, our engineering team can custom-mold specific lengths or provide multi-segment configurations to fit your exact berth drawing.
