Marine lifting airbags, also referred to as ship rubber balloons, are primarily utilized for ship launching, landing, marine salvage, and re-floating operations.
Ship roller airbags can facilitate the launching and handling of vessels with a deadweight tonnage (DWT) of up to 100,000 tons. Additionally, inflatable lifting airbags can serve as buoyancy support pontoons for applications such as temporary bridges, floating platforms, dock gates, recovery of sunken objects, or deployment of military equipment.

Boat airbag vessel docking procedure

Step one: Secure the vessel by attaching guy ropes or cables firmly to the winch. Typically, a ship requires control from four ropes in four directions to ensure precise positioning during landing.

 

Step two: Choose an appropriate position near the bottom of the bow to insert marine airbags, which will serve as the fulcrum for the winch to move the ship. If inserting airbags at the bottom of the bow proves challenging, they can be inserted from one side to the other. For heavy ships, additional bow-lifting airbags should be used until the bow is sufficiently lifted. For vessels with a V-shaped bow, the marine airbags should be placed where they can achieve maximum contact with the vessel's bottom. Additionally, airbags can be positioned at low tide and the vessel can be hauled onto the airbags at high tide. The vessel can then be lifted by inflating the airbags. The haul-out plan should be developed based on the specific conditions of the operation.

 

Step three: After lifting the bow, activate the winch to pull the ship toward the land while continuously inserting marine airbags into the space between the ship's bottom and the land until the entire ship is positioned on the slipway.

 

Step four: In this critical stage of the operation, the marine airbags are further inflated to elevate the ship to a higher position. This step ensures that the vessel is lifted sufficiently above the surface, providing the necessary clearance for placing wooden stands underneath. The wooden stands, which are specifically designed to support the weight of the ship, are carefully positioned to distribute the load evenly and maintain stability. Once the stands are securely in place, the marine airbags are gradually and carefully deflated and withdrawn. This meticulous process is essential to prevent any sudden movements or shifts in the ship's position, ensuring both the safety of the crew and the integrity of the vessel.
