Introduction of Florescence polyurethane foam filled fender

Marine foam fenders feature a closed-cell energy-absorbing foam core encased in a non-marking polyurethane outer layer, reinforced with tire-grade nylon cords to ensure consistent performance over years of service. For enhanced protection, they are equipped with cushioning systems-comprising aircraft tires wrapped around the fender and heavy-duty galvanized stud link chains-secured at all connection points using galvanized shackles, right through to the robust clevis plates at each end.

Compared to similarly sized pneumatic marine fenders, dock foam fenders offer up to 40% higher energy absorption, with a slow, gradual reaction force that outperforms rigid rubber alternatives. Their installation is straightforward, adapting seamlessly to both fixed and floating structures.

Ship foam-filled fenders are hull-conforming, meaning they resist damage from hull protrusions. Additionally, they require minimal maintenance, as they eliminate the need for pressure relief valves or inflation systems.

Florescence polyurethane foam fender is a kind of constructive fender with polyurea materials as its outer protective layer and EVA foam core forming the resilient inner part.Polyurethane Foam filled fender is the perfect solution for storm conditions, having the potential to outperform pneumatic units during severe weather. Our Foam Filled Fenders are constructed of three parts each providing an important function in the construction and lifespan of the fender.

The three parts are (1) The closed cell EVA foam. (2) Outer rubber + nylon cord fabrics. (3) Polyurea spraying coat.

Advantages of Foam Fenders

1. Maintenance-Free Operation

Foam fenders are filled with closed-cell polyurethane foam, eliminating the need for air pressure checks, inflation, or valve maintenance-unlike pneumatic fenders. This reduces long-term operational costs and downtime.

2. Durable and Puncture-Resistant

The solid foam core is highly resistant to punctures, tears, or damage from sharp objects (e.g., debris, ship hulls).

3. Consistent Performance

Their cushioning effect remains stable across temperature variations and long-term use, without pressure loss or performance degradation. This reliability makes them ideal for high-frequency berthing operations.

4. Lightweight and Easy Installation

Compared to heavy concrete or steel fenders, foam fenders are lighter, simplifying transportation, handling, and on-site installation-often requiring fewer lifting tools or structural supports.

5. Excellent Energy Absorption

The foam core efficiently absorbs impact energy, providing effective protection for both ships and berthing structures. They offer a balanced combination of low reaction force and high energy absorption, suitable for various vessel sizes.

6. Resistance to Harsh Environments

The outer rubber layer (often EPDM or neoprene) and foam core are resistant to UV radiation, saltwater, and chemical corrosion, ensuring a long service life in marine environments.

7. Versatile Applications

Suitable for ports, terminals, offshore platforms, and temporary berthing scenarios. They can be customized in size, shape, and mounting options to fit specific operational needs.

FAQ

Q: How Long Do Foam Filled Fenders Last Compared with Pneumatic Fenders?

Foam filled fenders typically provide longer service life because there is no risk of air leakage.

Typical Lifespan

Foam Filled Fender: 8 – 15 years

Pneumatic Fender: 5 – 10 years

PU outer skin offers excellent wear resistance in harsh marine environments.

Q: Will Foam Filled Fenders Sink If the Outer Skin Is Damaged?

No. Foam filled fenders remain floating even if the outer polyurethane skin is punctured.

Key Reason

Closed-cell EVA foam core prevents water absorption

No internal air pressure loss

Continuous buoyancy performance

This makes foam fenders ideal for offshore operations.

Q: Which Is Better for STS Operation: Foam Fender or Pneumatic Fender?

Foam filled fenders are preferred for high-frequency STS operations because they require lower maintenance.

Q: What Is the Most Popular Foam Fender Size?

The most commonly requested sizes depend on vessel type.

Popular Sizes

1000 × 1500 mm

1500 × 3000 mm

2000 × 3500 mm

Large vessels usually require higher energy absorption ratings.

Q: Do Foam Filled Fenders Need Tire-Chain Nets?

Not always. Tire-chain nets are optional based on operating conditions.

Tire-Chain Nets Are Recommended For

Tugboat operations

Rough berthing environments

Heavy-duty terminals

Frequent vessel contact

Smooth PU surface is suitable for cleaner port conditions.
